28 Aug – KRU Studios finally announced the release date for "Cicakman 2 – Planet Hitam" as 11 December 2008, after months of speculation from the press on the status of the sequel.

The date was made known at Planet Hollywood Kuala Lumpur recently, where it was also announced that they would be in close partnership with telco giant Celcom (M) Berhad for its third motion picture production.

Mr Zalman Aefendy, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Celcom stated: "Celcom is proud to work with KRU Studios and to play its part in further enhancing the quality of local films". "Cicakman 2 – Planet Hitam" is now officially the second motion picture to be sponsored by Celcom this year after "Cuci".

The event was attended by Aznil Hj Nawawi (playing Professor Klon in the sequel), Julia Ziegler...

(actress in upcoming film "Teman Selamanya"), Dafi (Akademi Fantasia Season 5 alum) and Linda Onn (Era FM DJ). Due to the encouraging response of "Cicakman" in 2006, KRU studios made the decision to embark on the sequel directed by Yusry Abdul Halim, who is also the Vice President of KRU Studios. He mentioned that in the sequel, fans can expect more action scenes as compared to the first "Cicakman", which was directed more towards the introduction of characters. Regardless of earlier uncertainties, fans can now rest assured that the official date is confirmed as 11 December 2008, as announced by Norman Abdul Halim, President of KRU Studios.

The film also sees the introduction of three theme songs brought exclusively by Celcom, namely "Planet Hitam" by Tyco, "Di Bius Cinta" by Yusry KRU and Melly Goeslow, and "Mau Yang Besar" by Pianka. All three titles were created specifically for the motion picture.

"Cicakman 2 – Planet Hitam" has received international recognition and will have its world premiere at the 13th Pusan International Film Festival in Korea (2-10 October 2008) in the "Asian Super Heroes" segment.

"Cicakman 2 – Planet Hitam" is slated for nationwide release on 11 December 2008.
